Kate Wesley Anne 5.jpg

"Kate is not only fun to learn from, but she is also incredibly versatile. As an adult learner, I have wanted instruction in a lot of different areas of music and she has easily adapted to teach whatever is needed at the time, including singing, performance tips, sight reading, aural skills, music theory and even songwriting. Kate is not only very encouraging but she also gently pushes you out of your comfort zone just the right amount. I have learned a lot from her and would not hesitate to recommend her to any prospective students."

ADVANCED VOCAL COACHING

Whilst learning singing Kate studied under 3 different teachers.

Her first and most influential teacher taught her fundamental technique in a 'Classical' singing where she compleated exams and competed in eisteddfods.

As Kate’ s goal was to sing in multiple styles, she left her classical training to actively pursue the techniques behind Rock and Pop Singing. Learning pop singing through the 'Speech-Level Singing' method, Kate learned placement and how to blend head and chest voice. Learning rock singing from a talented Melbourne rock singer, Kate learned to belt and add huskiness and fry sounds to her singing in a safe way.

From her experience exploring a variety of vocal styles, Kate has a broad understanding of the voice which enables her to sing and teach in multiple styles. Through the years she has developed a teaching method called the Voice Map (c).
